Testing POP3 and SMTP Server Mail Server Using Telnet<\/h5>\n

1. Start > Run > cmd (WinNT\/XP\/2003) or Start > Run > command (Win95\/98)<\/p>\n

2. Type command:telnet mail.domainname.com 25 (Example as below)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
c:\\telnet mail.YourDomain.com 25Connecting To mail.YourDomain.com\u2026_<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

You should receive some response as below:<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n
220- domainname.com ESMTP Exim 4.50 #1 Tue, 21 Jun 2005 07:30:42 +0800<\/strong>
\n220-We do not authorize the use of this system to transport unsolicited,<\/strong>
\n220 and\/or bulk e-mail.<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The message confirmed that the SMTP<\/a> server is working properly.<\/p>\n

3. To quit the Telnet prompt, type \u201cquit\u201d.<\/p>\n

To confirm the POP server is online and responding:<\/b><\/p>\n

1.Start > Run > cmd (WinNT\/XP\/2003) orStart > Run > command (Win95\/98)<\/p>\n

2.telnet mail.domainname.com 110 (Example as below)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
c:\\telnet mail.YourDomain.com 110Connecting To mail.YourDomain.com\u2026_<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

You should receive some response as below:<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n
+OK POP3 HostName [cppop x.x] at [192.168.1.7] (domainname.com)<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The message confirmed that the POP server is working properly.<\/p>\n
