{"id":262,"date":"2020-06-01T21:55:10","date_gmt":"2020-06-01T13:55:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wesbytes.com\/guide\/?post_type=kb&#038;p=262"},"modified":"2026-01-08T16:51:06","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T08:51:06","slug":"configure-exchange-activesync-on-the-iphone","status":"publish","type":"kb","link":"https:\/\/www.servergigabit.com\/guide\/kb\/configure-exchange-activesync-on-the-iphone","title":{"rendered":"Easy Guide: Configure Exchange ActiveSync on the iPhone"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Configure Exchange ActiveSync on the iPhone<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Applies to:\u00a0<\/strong>SmarterMail 6.x (Enterprise only)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/exchange\/clients\/exchange-activesync\/exchange-activesync\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync<\/a> is available as an optional add-on to SmarterMail.\u00a0 Unlike other synchronization methods, Exchange ActiveSync uses direct push technology to sync email, calendars, and contacts to the iPhone in real time.<\/p>\n<p>Once you have\u00a0activated Exchange ActiveSync from your Smartermail account, you will need to configure the iPhone to function with Exchange ActiveSync.<\/p>\n<p>To set up your iPhone to access Exchange ActiveSync, follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>On your iPhone\u2019s home screen, tap\u00a0<b>Settings<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<b>Mail, Contacts, Calendars<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<b>Add Mail Account<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<b>Microsoft Exchange<\/b>.\u00a0NOTE: Only one Exchange ActiveSync account can be set up at once.<\/li>\n<li>Complete the following required fields:\n<ul>\n<li>Email (your full email address)<\/li>\n<li>Domain name<\/li>\n<li>Username (without @domainname.com)<\/li>\n<li>Password<\/li>\n<li>Description<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/cdsassets.apple.com\/live\/7WUAS350\/images\/ios\/iphone-xs-ios13-settings-account-add-exchange-server-steps-crop.png\" alt=\"Configure Exchange ActiveSync on the iPhone\" width=\"276\" height=\"393\" \/><\/p>\n<p>6. Tap <b>Next<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>7. After a moment, the iPhone will ask for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.servergigabit.com\/\">server<\/a> information. This is the URL to your webmail. For example, mail.example.com. NOTE: Do not include http:\/\/ when entering the server information.<\/p>\n<p>8. Tap <b>Next<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>9. If your webmail does not support SSL, the following message will display: \u201cExchange account verification failed.\u201d<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Tap\u00a0<b>Next\u00a0<\/b>and then tap\u00a0<b>Save<\/b>. Complete step 10 of these setup instructions.<\/li>\n<li>After step 10, edit the account you just added.<\/li>\n<li>Tap\u00a0<b>Account Info<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Change \u201cUse SSL\u201d to \u201cOff.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>10. The iPhone will display a list of collaboration items to sync with Exchange ActiveSync.
