CAUSE<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

This problem may occur if you have an antivirus e-mail protection utility enabled, which checks the mail as it comes in from your Post Office Protocol (POP) server.<\/p>\n

RESOLUTION<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

To resolve this problem, disable the antivirus e-mail protection utility as well as the Windows Firewall<\/a>, to disable the Windows Firewall, follow these steps:<\/p>\n

1. Open the Control Panel (Start > Control Panel)
\n2. Open Network Connection
\n3. Right click on the internet connection you\u2019re using (LAN, or Wireless, or GreenNet Dial-up)
\n4. From the menu select \u2018Properties\u2019
\n5. Go to the \u2018Security\u2019 tab, and switch off the Firewall.<\/p>\n

Then, if you haven\u2019t already done so you need to manually add the incoming POP server name (pop.gn.apc.org) and the outgoing SMTP server name (smtp.gn.apc.org) in the E-mail Accounts dialog box in Outlook.<\/p>\n

To manually add the POP server setting, follow these steps:<\/p>\n

1. Start Outlook.
\n2. On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.
\n3. Click View or change existing e-mail accounts, and then click Next.
\n4. In the E-mail Accounts dialog box, click Add.
\n5. Click POP3, and then click Next.
\n6. Type the correct information for your POP3 mail server, and then click Next.
\n7. Click Finish.<\/p>\n
