Difference Between Add-on, Parked Domain and Sub-domain

Add-on Parked and Sub-domain

Sub domain

A sub-do-main is a second website with its own unique content, but there is no new domain name.

  • Let’s say your Sub domain is com.
  • You install an E-Commerce and put in a directory calledcom/commerce/.
  • You can turn the directory commerce into a sub-domain by
adding it as a sub-domain from your Control Panel.
  • Now you can access your E-Commerce as either com/commerce OR commerce.domain.com

Parked Domain

A parked domain is NOT a unique website, but it is a masked forward to the primary domain name of your cPanel account.

  • You have several domains com,domain.org, domain.biz, and domain.net.
  • com is the domain of your website and you
    want to add domain.org, domain.biz, and domain.net.
  • You want them both to go to the same place. In other words, when
someone types either com,domain.org,domain.biz or domain.net they will go to the same page(s) on your
    website.
  • In order to have additional parked domains you need to purchase the
    additional domain(s).
  • Domain parking is the registration of an Internet domain name without that domain being associated with any services such as e-mail or a website.
  • This may have been done with a view to reserving the domain name for future development, and to protect against the possibility of cybersquatting.

Add-On Domains (Only for Linux Hosting Plan)

An addon domain is a second website, with its own unique content. This type of domain does require you to register the new domain name before you can host it

  • You have two domain com and addondomain.com.
  • You want the two domain to be totally separate/independent
  • In order to have additional add-on domain, you need to purchase the
    additional domain(s).

Web Hosting Features Guide

File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a set of rules used by networked computers to speak to each other.  Besides,  FTP is the language used by computers on the TCP / IP network (such as the Internet) to transfer files to and from each other.

You’ve probably already experienced FTP on the net. Have you ever downloaded a modern nightly build of Firefox or downloaded MP3s from a kid’s personal server in Sweden? So you just used FTP without even knowing it. Today’s web browsers allow you to download files from the browser window via FTP. It’s very convenient, and it’s perfect when you need to access a file or two, but the browser-download approach doesn’t offer a lot of flexibility. You can’t upload, force a transfer mode, or ask the server any questions you might have. And don’t even get me started on the issue of security. But if you’re doing any kind of web development, you need all that kind of web creation.

You can follow this Web Hosting Features Guide by start uploading your files using the IP address below:

ftp://(Server IP)

First, view your site web hosting by using IP, please enter ftp://(Server IP)/~(Username)/ at your browser.

Nevertheless, when your domain name is transferred and running in your browser, the Web Hosting Guide will allow you to use your host name.

ftp://ftp.(Domain)

User name and password are the same as the CPanel.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you upload your files to the PUBLIC_HTML or www directory on the server otherwise they will not be visible on the internet. Save your homepage as an “index” file, e.g. index.htm, index.html, etc. Learn how to edit host file.

Lastly, We suggest you to download File Zilla from Download FileZilla client if you do not already have an ftp client. Learn more how to use FTP

What is Sub-Domain?

Sub-Domain

In the Domain Name Server (DNS) hierarchy, a sub-domain is a domain that is part of a broader domain name. A DNS hierarchy consists of the highest root-level domain, the first-level domain below followed by second-level domains and subdomains at last.

Valid sub-domains as defined in RFC 1034 that contain any letter or number as well as-‘ ‘(hyphen). Sub-domain must start with an alphabet character. Sub-domains are case-insensitive, and ‘ABC.com’ is the same as ‘abc.COM’ when the upper and lower case characters are real.

Length of sub domain
The length of a  sub-domain label is limited to 63 characters, although there is an arbitrary number of subdomain labels in the domain name.

Structure
“Dots” seperated the Sub-Domains and read in descending detail from left to right. It contains all of the previous subdomains and all of the following subdomains. Both subdomains are composed of a second-level domain, which in effect includes the top-level domain.

For this case, the top-level domain is ‘tld’ and the second-level domain is ‘domain.’The sub-domain enclosed in the tree structure within the ‘domain.’

Popular real-life examples would be news.google.com, mail.yahoo.com and en.wikipedia.org. In which news, mail and en are subdomains, respectively.

Why am I getting a 500 internal server error?

However, A blanket error message for any internal errors that prevented the origin to fulfill. At origin the request wasn’t catch.

Besides that ,In the very rare event that an exception throw with Cloudflare’s edge or an internal DNS timeout occurred. Cloudflare will return a 500 with the page stating “cloudflare”.

If you don’t see this, the issue is occurring at the origin server and you’ll want to work with your hosting provider on the issue.

What should I do after seeing a 502 or 504 gateway error on my site?

The 502 or 504 gateway error are quite similar. They are caused by a problem connecting to an upstream server – meaning. Your server is trying to initiate a process and this fails to work as expected or times out.

In most cases of 502 / 504 errors, back-end servers are not communicating correctly. There are three reasons this can occur:

  1. Origin Server is not configured to handle the requested domain name at the targeted IP address. Maybe caused when changing DNS records; keep in mind DNS TTL determines how long a record is valid in DNS cache.
  2. The server at the origin is overloaded or unreachable at the time the request was made. The could be due to the server crashing, traffic spikes, or lack of connectivity to the server.
  3. An application or service used at your origin with is either timing out or being blocked.

Generally, a HTTP 502 or 504 errors occurs because your origin server (e.g. your web host) is returning this code to us, and Cloudflare returns this code in turn to your visitors.

When this happens you will see an error with the Cloudflare branding:

502 or 504 gateway error502 or 504 gateway error

In this case, and you should contact your hosting provider for further troubleshooting or review your own logs if you manage the server yourself.

Note that 502s and 504s can be returned by any HTTP-aware device. If you have any load balancers or local proxies in place and do not see errors in the logs of the server that handles that page, check other infrastructure between your origin and Cloudflare.

You should be able to verify that by generating a HAR file – How do I generate a HAR file?

In that case, the error page will look specifically like this:

How To Fix a 502 Bad Gateway Error (13 Quick Fixes)

Note that the name “cloudflare” appears at the bottom of the error message. If you do not see this, then this error is *not* coming from Cloudflare, and instead is coming from your origin server.

How to Fix 504 Gateway Timeout Error (11 Solutions)

If you do see “cloudflare” in the error page, please run a traceroute from your machine to your domain, and point your browser to “http://example.com/cdn-cgi/trace” (replace example.com with your actual site). Then open a support ticket and copy-paste both the traceroute result and the information shown in your browser.

As mentioned previously, most of the time these error codes are actually coming from your origin web server. It might look like the screenshot below, but depending on the web server you run and the amount of customisation you have done. Then it may look completely different as well.
